This draft of decree states that all cable products produced within the country or imported, distributed and marketed in the country shall fulfil the SNI requirements. The producers and or importers therefore shall have Product Certificate for using SNI Mark and shall comply with the requirements of SNI. The product certificate on SNI marking shall be issued by a Product Certification Body which has been accredited by National Accreditation Body of Indonesia namely Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN) and appointed by the Minister of Industry though: a. Testing of the conformity of the products quality against SNI requirements; b. Audit on the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) SNI 19-9001-2001/ISO 9001-2000 or its revision; or other recognized Quality Management system; The testing shall be carried out by testing laboratories which have been accredited by KAN or other accreditation body which has signed Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) with KAN and Appointed by The Minister of Industry, Republic of Indonesia, and signs bilateral agreement between the country and Government of Indonesia. Directorate General of for Metal, Machinery, Textile and Multifarious Industries, Ministry of Industry is the institution that is responsible for the implementation of this decree and shall provide a technical guidance of the decree, which covers Procedure of Product Certification and SNI Marking. Cable products which are distributed in domestic market that originated domestically and imported shall meet the requirements which consist in SNI 04-6629.2-2006, SNI 04-6629.3-2006, SNI 04-6629.4-2006, SNI 04-6629.5-2006, SNI 04-7183.1-2006, and SNI 04-7183.2-2006. Cable products specify for term and definition, quality requirements, sampling, testing method, testing acceptance, marking requirement and packaging (this standard is available in Indonesian language).
