This standard is a revision to allow for the fortification of wheat flour with minerals and vitamin with the aim to reduce micronutrient deficiencies, particularly iron and zinc are widespread in Indonesia. The Department of Health Nutrition survey indicates that the prevalence of anemia is 63.5 percent for pregnant woman and 55.5 per cent for children under five years, while several university studies find zinc deficiency affecting up to 72 per cent of pregnant woman. With a modern and centralized milling industry in Indonesia, wheat flour fortification constitutes a very cost-effective way to increase the nutritional status and well-being of population levels of addition: iron = 60 ppm, zinc = 30 ppm, thiamine = 2.5 ppm, riboflavin = 4 ppm and folic acide = 2 ppm
