Description

The Measuring Instruments Regulations 2016 implement the MI (2014/32/EU) Directives aligned under the New Legislative Framework (NLF) text of EU Decision 768/2008/EC and Regulation 765/2008/EC on accreditation and market surveillance.  The Regulations revoke and replace The Measuring Instruments Regulations 2006 (15 individual instrument regulations (as amended)). It introduces new obligations on manufacturers, importers and distributors.  It also makes detailed provisions concerning the bodies which are entitled to carry out conformity assessment and the market surveillance regime. The scope and essential requirements are unchanged. In addition to the safeguard provisions of the Directive, the new legislation also includes national in-service control provisions.
