Description

The definitive version of the Mexican Official Standard to which this amendment refers was published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación (Official Journal) on 17 January 1997 and became mandatory throughout the national territory the following day. Its main objective is to establish production and quality control specifications for chemical, pharmaceutical, biological and food products for animal use or consumption in order to protect animal health by preventing risks thereto. This Mexican Official Standard applies to all establishments engaged in the production, importation, packaging and storage for distribution and marketing purposes of chemical, pharmaceutical, biological and food products for animal use or consumption which constitute an animal health risk. 	The purpose of this draft amendment is to introduce new rules on definitions, conformity assessment and labelling. 	Given the nature of its content, this draft amendment has been notified concurrently to the WTO Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures.
