Description

The purpose of this Draft Mexican Official Standard is to identify and classify the most commonly transported hazardous substances and materials, according to type, risk category, secondary risks and United Nations code number, the special provisions governing the transport of hazardous substances, materials and waste and the packing and packaging methods used. 	This Mexican Official Standard is binding, within their areas of responsibility, on shippers, hauliers and consignees of hazardous substances and materials transported on general communication routes by land, air or sea. 	This Mexican Official Standard refers to the following international standards: 	United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations, Twelfth Revised Edition, New York and Geneva. 	International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG), Amendment 29-96. 	Annex 18 to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, DOC. 9284-AN/905 Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air, ICAO (1997-1998).
