Description

The purpose of this Draft Mexican Official Standard (NOM) is to  classify radioactive materials and packaging, for transport purposes, on the basis of their origin and inherent activity, with a view to selecting the right packaging for transport purposes, so that the containment system is appropriate to the material transported, preventing leaks, dispersion, spillage and radiation levels capable of causing injury to persons, personal property and the environment. 	This Draft Mexican Official Standard is applicable to all radioactive materials and packages containing them intended for transport in the national territory. 	This Mexican Official Standard partially conforms to the recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency set out in Safety Standards Series ST-1, "Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material".
