Description

This Draft Mexican Official Standard (NOM) establishes the design specifications for packages and packings used to transport radioactive material, so as to provide containment against radiation and radioactive contamination of workers and means of transport, maintain subcriticality in respect of fissile material and ensure that their outer surface is not exposed to high temperatures. 	This Standard is applicable to the design and maintenance of all packages and packings used for the transportation of radioactive material in Mexican territory. 	This Mexican Official Standard partially conforms to the recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency set forth in Safety Standards Series ST-1, "Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material".
