Description

The draft regulation specifies requirements on the design and equipment of private cars, lorries, buses, coaches and their trailers. The new regulation replaces the existing regulation VVFS 1994:5. The basic rules regarding design and equipment of vehicles in the former Vehicle Decree (1972:595) and the sections regarding design and equipment of vehicles in the Military Road Traffic Decree (1974:97), the Road Traffic Ordinance for the Fire Brigade’s emergency service during education and in the state of alert (1995:137) and the Ordinance concerning vehicles in international road traffic in Sweden (1987:27) have been incorporated in the regulation. Previous national requirements are replaced by the corresponding technical provisions in EC-directives. The requirements now also apply to equipment voluntarily mounted to a vehicle. The regulation contains provisions regarding new as well as old vehicles, which have been brought into use with regard to the transitional provisions given in the Vehicle Decree.
