Description
The proposed regulations revised the inspection standards and conformity assessment procedures for the electrical and electronic products that are already subject to mandatory inspection. The purpose of this revision is to bring the measures, especially the safety requirements, in consistency so as to facilitate trade. The dual-track approach of conformity assessment procedures will be retained with the following changes. For the Registration of Product Certification Scheme: - The change of applicable modules for certain products, which is proposed to be effective from January 1, 2003. For the bath inspection: - The change of inspection standard (CNS 3765) to the most recent version (1999 version), which is one of the safety standards used for type testing under the registration of Product Certification Scheme. This change is proposed to be effective from 1 January, 2003 for the purpose of moving towards a type-approved batch inspection. - Starting from 1 January 2004, products that follow batch inspection will be required to pass type approval in advance before making application for batch inspection. The testing standards of type approval will be the same as those under the Registration of Product Certification Scheme.
