Description

The Safety Inspection Criteria of lifejackets for recreational purposes will be amended in harmonization with the technical requirements in the European Personal Protective Equipment Directive (89/686/EEC) Amended safety inspection criteria will be composed of two parts and describe safety requirements of three types of lifejackets – type A, B and C. -	Part 1:	Type B- Lifejacket that has a buoyancy of no less than 100N for the average adult and is intended for use in relatively sheltered waters. -		Type C – Lifejacket that has a buoyancy of no less than 150N for the average adult and intended for use offshore or in rough weather. -	Part 2:	Type A – Lifejacket that has a buoyancy of no less than 50N for the average adult (Buoyancy Aids) and is intended for use in sheltered waters when help is close at hand and the user is a swimmer; in circumstances where more bulky or buoyant devices would impair the user's activity or actually endanger him.
