Description

The Regulation contains further requirements that meet the facilities for improving the field of vision that are to be made mandatory in the Vehicle Regulation in order to reduce the "blind spot".  On 18 June 2002, the Netherlands notified [notification number G/TBT/N/NLD/45] its intention to make these facilities mandatory in the Vehicle Regulation as a permanent requirement for all commercial vehicles intended for goods transport that have a maximum permitted weight of more than 3500 kg.  It should be pointed out in this context that this obligation will not apply to commercial vehicles registered in another Member State of the European Communities.  Notification was at that time also provided of the intention to allow certain width mirrors in the Vehicle Regulation in connection with inspection for first licensing for road use if these reduce the "blind spot".
