Description

This document proposes a number of revisions to the Federal Safety Standard for Child Restraint Systems, including proposals for incorporating improved test dummies and updated procedures used to test child restraints, new or revised inquiry criteria to assess the dynamic performance of child restraints, and extension of the standard to apply it to child restraints recommended for use by children up to 65 pounds.  This action is intended to make child restrains even more effective in protecting children from the risk of death or serious injury in motor vehicle crashes.
