Description
As on 1 April 2002, the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) 1991 will be revoked and replaced by Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations 2002. Under the 2002 Regulations, the Singapore Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Registration Scheme or CPS Scheme will change from government to third party CABs certification. PSB will be registering the current thirty-one (31) categories of controlled goods based on Certificates of Conformity (COCs) issued by designated CABs located in Singapore and MRA partners. Also from 1 April 2002, 8 prescribed articles under Part IV of the Public Utilities (Electricity) Regulations (Cap 261, Rg2) will be transferred to PSB as controlled goods making a total of thirty-nine (39) categories of controlled goods. These controlled goods are specified in the First Schedule of the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations 2002.
