The Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No. 90) B.E. 2528(1985) Labelling of Food for Special Purposes dated 11 July B.E.2528(1985) is withdrawn. Good Manufacturing Practice shall be applied for production. In addition, this notification prescribes the following items: (1)	Classification 	Food for special purpose is classified into 2 types, i.e.  (a)	Food for use by patients suffering from specific diseases or persons with abnormal physical conditions; (b)	Food for use by persons who have special purposes in consumption of food, such as food for the person wishing to control body weight, food for the elderly, food for pregnant women, etc.  (2)	Food for special purpose is food subject to labelling. The label shall be approved before use and shall be in accordance with the ministerial notification regarding labelling.  (3)	The label of food for special purpose shall contain information, in Thai language but may also be accompanied by foreign languages, on the name of food; food serial number; name and address of place of manufacture, repacker or importer, as the case may be; net content in metric system; main ingredients in percentage by approximate weight in descending order with the amount and proportion of the nutrients when compared in percentage to the nutrients that should be consumed daily per the prescription of the World Health Organization; month and year of  manufacture and expiry date or date, month and year within which food remains in good quality.  Licences for food labelling issued prior to the enforcement of this ministerial notification will still be valid for not more than 2 years. Producers or importers who received licences prior to the enforcement of this ministerial notification must apply for food serial number within one year after this ministerial notification comes into force. Upon submitting the application, the former labels can still be valid for not more than 2 years.
