Description

The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has proposed to enforce TIS 824-2531(1988) as a compulsory standard.  The standard covers manually operated switches with rated voltage not exceeding 440 V, rated current not exceeding 63 A intended for household or similar fixed electrical installations both indoor and outdoor.  Specifies types, rated voltage, rated current and number of poles.  Prescribes requirements for mark durability, protection against electric shock, provision for earthing, terminals, resistance to ageing, to harmful ingress of water and to humidity, membranes in inlet openings (if any), insulation resistance, voltage resistance, temperature rise, making and breaking capacity, normal operation, mechanical strength, resistance to heat, screws, current-carrying parts and connections, creepage distance, clearances and distances through insulating sealing compound.  Includes marking, labelling, sampling and criteria for conformity, testing.
