These Royal Decrees relate to technical inspections of both new machines and machines installed before 15 April 2001 and the corresponding fees. New machines are subject to a four-stage procedure involving type approval (inspection of the type of game of chance with a view to determining whether it complies with the related standards and operational regulations), initial verification (verification prior to entry into service), periodic verification (inspection of machines which underwent an initial verification) and technical control (check to ensure that machines which underwent an initial verification still comply with legal standards).  The procedure is identical for installed machines except that they benefit from a presumption of conformity to avoid bringing sector activities to a standstill
