Description

This Resolution to amend the Mexican Official Standard was adopted because, following the entry into force of the Standard, it was realized that some changes needed to be made to its content in order to make its implementation simpler, clearer and more consistent.  The following amendment was therefore made to Item 4.2 "Quantity indication" which now reads as follows:    "4.2 Quantity indication  4.2.1 Meet the requirements of current Mexican Official Standards NOM-030-SCFI: Trade information – Quantity declaration on the label – Specifications, and NOM-008-SCFI: General System of Units of Measurement, which can also be displayed in imperial units, in Spanish, using the same typeface and type size.    4.2.2 Collective packaging (packs, packets, boxes, etc.) used for marketing various products must display how many individual containers or units it comprises or holds, including the net contents thereof (weight, volume).  The aforesaid information must be shown on the principal display surfaces or information panels of cartons, packs, packets, boxes, etc., with no restrictions on the type size which may be used, as long as it is easily legible to the consumer.      6. Description of content:  (cont'd)  4.2.3 For the purposes of meeting quantity declaration requirements, it is considered sufficient that containers should display the quantitative data followed by the unit on an appropriate scale, without it being necessary to display the terms CONTENTS, NET CONTENTS or the abbreviations CONT. and NET CONT."
