Description

The Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.68) B.E.2525(1982) Food Labelling dated 29 April B.E.2525(1982) and the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.95) Food Labelling B.E.2528(1985) dated 30 September B.E.2528(1985) are withdrawn and replaced by this ministerial notification. This notification prescribes that all food products shall be labelled.  The label shall be in Thai language and contain information, in Thai language, on the name of the food, food classification number, name and address of a manufacturer, repacker or importer as the case may be, net content of food in metric system, essential ingredients in percentage of weight; the statements “preservatives used”, “natural food colour added”, “ artificial food colour added”, “food enhancer used”, “ sweetener agents used”, “natural flavour added”, etc. as the case may be, the date, month, year of manufacture, expiry or date, month, year within which food remains in good quality. Imported foods may be labelled in English language. Licenses for labelling issued prior to the enforcement of this notification will be valid for 2 years.  Producers or importers of food prior to the enforcement of this notification must apply for licenses within one year after this notification comes into force.  Upon submitting the application, the former labels can still be valid for 2 years.
