Description
The Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.62) B.E.2524(1981) Beverages in Sealed Containers dated 7 September B.E.2524(1981) and the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.180) B.E.2542(1999) Beverages in Sealed Containers (No.2) dated 12 November B.E.2542(1999) are withdrawn. Good Manufacturing Practice shall be applied for production of beverages in sealed containers. In addition, this ministerial notification prescribes the following items: (1) Classification of beverages: (a) Water mixed with carbon dioxide or oxygen; (b) Beverages which contain or are made from fruits, plants or vegetables, whether or not being mixed with carbon dioxide or oxygen; (c) Beverages which contain or are made from mixtures which contain no fruit, plant or vegetable whether or not being mixed with carbon dioxide or oxygen; (d) Concentrated beverages as defined in clause (b) or (c) which must be diluted before consuming; (e) Powdered beverages as defined in clause (b) or (c); (2) Quality or standards, i.e. specific odour and flavour, free from sediments, Escherichia coli , toxic microorganisms, yeasts and moulds. (3) Permissible limits of contaminants, i.e. arsenic, lead, copper, zinc, iron, tin and sulphur dioxide not exceeding 0.2, 0.5, 5, 5, 15, 250 and 10 mg/1 kg. of beverages respectively. (4) Permissible limit of preservative agents, i.e. sulphur dioxide not exceeding 70 mg/1 kg of beverages, benzoic acid or ascorbic acid or their salts not exceeding 200 mg/1 kg of beverages. (5) Containers. (6) Labelling. Licenses for food registration or food labelling issued prior to the enforcement of this ministerial notification will be valid for 2 years. Producers or importers who received licenses prior to the enforcement of this notification must apply for licenses within one year after this notification comes into force. Upon submitting the application, the former labels will still be valid for the time period not exceeding 2 years after this notification comes into force.
