Description
The Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.77) B.E.2527(1984) Coffee dated 13 January B.E.2527(1984), the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.132) B.E.2533(1990) Coffee (No.2) dated 15 October B.E.2533(1990) and the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No.181) B.E.2540(1997) Coffee (No.3) dated 21 November B.E.2540(1997) are withdrawn. Good Manufacturing Practice shall be applied for production of coffee. In addition, this notification prescribes the following items: (1) Classification of roasted coffee: - Coffee; - Mixed coffee; - Decaffeinated coffee; - Instant coffee; - Mixed instant coffee; - Decaffeinated instant coffee. Ready to drink coffee in sealed containers must also meet the requirements of this ministerial notification. (2) Quality or standards, i.e. odour and flavour, content of caffeine, total ash, sugar and humidity (3) Permissible limits of preservative agents, i.e. sulphur dioxide not exceeding 70 mg/1 kg of roasted coffee and benzoic acid or zorbic acid or their salts not exceeding 200 mg/1 kg of ready-to-drink coffee. (4) Containers. (5) Labelling. Licenses for food registration or food labelling issued prior to the enforcement of this ministerial notification will be valid for 2 years. Producers or importers who received licenses prior to the enforcement of this ministerial notification must apply for licenses within one year after this ministerial notification comes into force. Upon submitting the application, the former labels can still be valid for 2 years.
