97.080 - Cleaning appliances

The notified Protocol establishes the energy efficiency certification procedure and performance testing for dry vacuum cleaners, including water filter vacuum cleaners for household or similar use, which are mains-operated in accordance with the purpose and scope of IEC 62885-2:2021-10. The following products are exempt from this requirement: (a) mains-operated dry vacuum cleaners for commercial use, IEC 62885-8; (b) battery-operated (cordless) dry vacuum cleaners, IEC 62885-4; (c) automatic vacuum cleaners (robot or smart vacuum cleaners) powered by internal or removable batteries, IEC/ASTM 62885-7; (d) hand-held and portable vacuum cleaners for vehicles that powered or charged by 12 V DC supply; (e) vacuum cleaners manufactured exclusively for commercial and industrial purposes and vacuum cleaners with voltages above 250 V; or power greater than 3,000 W; or capacity greater than 15 litres; (f) vacuum cleaners to be used for non-household (commercial/industrial) purposes in hotels, offices, schools, hospitals and similar premises; (g) backpack-type vacuum cleaners for commercial/industrial use; (h) dual-supply vacuum cleaners, optionally mains powered or powered by internal or removable batteries; (i) vacuum cleaners operated on DC supply from external sources not included; (j) wet vacuum cleaners; (k) wet/dry vacuum cleaners; (l) central vacuum cleaners; (m) floor vacuum cleaner/polishers; (n) outdoor vacuum cleaners such as garden blowers and vacuum cleaners/blowers; (o) vacuum cleaners for medical purposes; (p) ash vacuum cleaners; (q) vacuum cleaners for animal care purposes; (r) vacuum cleaners only with USB input port and/or USB connector cable; (s) swimming pool cleaners and glass cleaners; (t) appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).
