Description

This notification advises that amendments have been made to the Energy Efficiency (Vehicle Energy Economy Labelling) Regulations (notified as G/TBT/N/NZL/107) to reflect the revocation of the Clean Car Discount policy from the close of 31 December 2023. The Clean Car Discount policy provided financial rebates on zero and low CO2 emission vehicles, sold for the first time in New Zealand, and imposed charges on vehicles with CO2 per kilometre emissions higher than a specified threshold. The amendment removes the requirement to display information on vehicle energy economy labels relevant to the rebate and charge information of the Clean Car Discount. From 1 January 2024, all energy economy labels on vehicles and information for vehicles available for sale (both in-person and online) must be updated to the new requirements.
