The Energy Policy and Conservation Act, as amended ("EPCA"), prescribes energy conservation standards for various consumer products and certain commercial and industrial equipment, including refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers. In this direct final rule, the U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE'') is adopting amended energy conservation standards for refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers. DOE has determined that the amended energy conservation standards for these products would result in significant conservation of energy, and are technologically feasible and economically justified.The effective date of this rule is 16 May 2024. The incorporation by reference of certain material listed in the rule was approved by the Director as of 21 May 2014, and 12 November 2021. Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 430This direct final rule and the notice of proposed rulemaking notified as G/TBT/N/USA/583/Rev.1 are identified by Docket Number EERE-2017-BT-STD-0003.
