The notified Ecuadorian Emergency Technical Regulation establishes the requirements to be met by ductless air conditioners, with the aim of protecting the environment and preventing deceptive practices. The current electricity situation in Ecuador has generated a number of significant challenges for the country, affecting both the population and the economy. The problem has intensified because of factors such as increased energy demand, variability in the production of hydro-electricity, and lack of investment in energy infrastructure. As a result, electricity rationing and programmed electricity cuts have been implemented, which has led to widespread discontent among citizens and has had a negative impact on productive sectors such as industry and trade. The need to diversify energy sources, implement energy efficiency measures to reduce demand and improve the management of the electricity system value chain has become imperative to ensure reliable and sustainable supply in the future.
